OZTF admin possibilities | 28-Jun-2004 17:02:46 | |||

There are lots of dramas in OZTF, with one of the major topics being the way the OZTF admins are making decisions regarding suspensions and other issues. People are crying about the make up of the admin team. This season is very different to others, with a representative from each clan having a position. There has been a bit of talk about the effectiveness of this structure. I thought I would analyse some of the alternatives if particular people were running the competition on their own. If Masschino was running OZTF – The map list would be very limited if the Crown Prince of HC was running the competition. Every team would have to play HC * 2 every week and the official drink of OZTF would be Kahlua. You would be banned if you did not use a FRJ script at least 3 times every run. The rules would be drastically shortened and would revolve around the golden rule: “To behave in the way a normal 2K gamer would and should behave”. If Haze was running OZTF – Points for games will be rewarded based on how gay a person can be in the game. Full points would only be awarded to a team that successfully destroyed a game with gay tactics. A review board would be setup with the most influential gay members of the OZTF community to decide how effective a clan has been in destroying a game. There would be the possibility of extra points being awarded for destroying other games you are not involved in through ping flooding or port scanning. If Donaldo was running OZTF – TF games would not actually be played, with points being awarded based on the clan’s knowledge of anime. Non-asian based clans would be given handicaps, allowing them to compete on a level playing field with their more knowledgable asian counterparts. Points would be awarded based on questions devised by a team of anime experts, with particular emphasis on the latest Naruto episodes. If DP was running OZTF – In a normal OZTF round there wouldn’t actually be any games played. Games would only be played if it was found that there was little to argue about. A crisis board would be the glue of this competition, and would decide when games needed to be played to maintain high quality arguments. These results of these games would not have points implications because points would only be given on the ability to argue a point. The ability to argue semantics and minor details will be the focus of all clans competing. The other clans would battle it out for 2nd 3rd and 4th because 1st would already be taken by DP’s clan, because he is always correct. If Husk was running OZTF – Games would be played in a very similar fashion with a slight twist. Extra points would be awarded for a successful new identity change. To receive the maximum amount of points the story would have to revolve around a Deathmatcher who nobody has heard of taking up TF and owning from day one. If Twist was running OZTF – The winner of games would not be an important factor in awarding points. Instead a TFDE review board would watch the MVD of every competition game and decide which team was more spectacular in playing the game. The team that has the most footage that can be used in TFDE will be declared the winner. Thus, the deciding factor for points would be the ability of clans to do triple midairs, midair flag takes and other spectacular feats. However, a clan who was rumoured to have performed a “TFDE move” which was not recorded, will automatically be stripped of all points and suspended indefinitely from the competition. The rules would be altered slightly to force all clans to use teamspeak and record them talking and planning their “pwnage moves”. Rules would also have a table with degrees of difficulty of all these “pwnage moves” to help the assessment of awarding points. IF ABC was running OZTF – Games would not be played and points would be awarded based on the quality of the English used by clans. The rules would be modified to force the use of full sentences, correct use of grammar (especially full stops) and appropriate capitalisation. To gain full points a clan would have to demonstrate their mastery of punctuation. The three maps that could be chosen are HTML, IRC, or .doc. People using spell checkers and dicitionary.com would be dealt with harshly if caught. IF Jin was running OZTF – Points would be based on which clan had the individual with the highest fragcount at the end of the game. The team with the best fraghunter would be the team that would dominate OZTF. Extra points would also be awarded for clans that develop new TF terms to describe common game situations e.g. “Stagnation” when the flag is stuck around the h4rdcore lifts. IF Stack was running OZTF – Points would be based evenly on the result of fixtures and the quality of the match report after the game. Rules would be altered to ban all classes other than engineer and require that all players use a 500 ping. Clans would also have the opportunity to gain bonus points by writing essays. However, if essays were not over 1500 words or were not written at a certain quality level decided by Keith, points would be deducted. Clans in OZTF would therefore need to posses a quality journalist in their ranks to have any chance of finishing in a top four position. IF B333 was running OZTF - Points would be awarded only for clans that demonstrate an ability to talk about stuff they know nothing about. Any clan that actually plays TF and has some knowledge of the game will immediately be suspended. To win under a B333 regime, a clan would have to work a fine balance between suggesting stupid shit that nobody cares about whilst not actually playing TF. If a person disagreed with something B333 said they would immediately be suspended and branded as “jumping on a b333 hate bandwagon”. If anyone from FV was running OZTF - All non alternative maps would automatically be banned from the competition. Client restrictions will be abandoned all together, and coding your own client would be a pre-requisite to entry. If clans do not have the ability to code their own clients or cheat tools they will not be allowed entry into the competition. Any player caught playing with a “standard client” would be suspended indefinitely. No restrictions would be placed on what would be allowed in clients, with the eventual winner of OZTF likely to be the clan that has the best ability to code. If Sandz was running OZTF – It would be exactly the same as it is now, seeing as he has done almost everything over the last four seasons. Whilst some of my predictions may be very slightly exaggerated, the moral of the story is that whilst the current admin board may not be perfect, it is far better than some other possibilites. |
